About
Hey, I’m Obi Arisukwu, a.k.a. Obi Aris. I’m a first-generation Nigerian-American, born and raised in Houston, Texas, now based in Los Angeles. I’m an artist, writer, and lifelong cartoon fanatic. My love for drawing started the moment I first laid eyes on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series (the goat of cartoons), and I was hooked ever since.
Before going full-blown artist, I worked in corporate America, daydreaming about sketching while laboring over PowerPoint presentations. I can die happy never having to set another slideshow transition. Eventually, I took a leap of faith and decided to bet on myself. Was it scary? Yes. Was it a rough start? Hell yeah. Would I do it all over again? In a heartbeat.
Today, I’m widely known for my pop art-esque illustrations and viral online comic strips that draw humor from my life, moments we experience in society, and the pure oddness of today’s world. My work’s connected with millions of people, building a community that laughs with me, shares my art, and inspires me to keep on creating.
That momentum led me into the entertainment industry, where I developed and sold an animated series inspired by my comics. Since then, I’ve kept it going, developing animated projects and stories for both kids and adults, collaborating with amazing folks and attracting attention from major studios, publications, and other phenomenal creatives.
To sum it all up, creating art is how I express myself. It’s my way of connecting, entertaining, and inspiring. Whether through illustration, comics, animation, or storytelling, my mission is simple: to make the world smile.
